Wonderful Life

Wonderful Life

1. Live Below Your Means

There will always be temptation to forsake the future for immediate gratification. We all want to buy that new piece of technology, treat ourselves to an expensive night on the town, or take out a loan for the flashy car we can’t afford. It might feel great at the time but rash spending hurts a lot later on.

Enjoy life’s simple pleasures and save as much as you can. Expensive things don’t create lasting happiness and security. Careful spending will bring you greater leisure and enjoyment in the long run.

2. Put Your Money to Work

Saving is great, but to make the most of your money you need to put it to work. Good investments can be the difference between retiring in your 40′s or in your 60′s.

A post today at The Simple Dollar really got me thinking. According to Trent’s projections, if a person in their early 20′s invests 20% of their income in an S&P index fund, the interest they earn will equal their current salary when they reach their early 40′s. They could retire without a drop in income!

Wise investing is the surest path to financial independence and it’s something everyone can work on. It’s definitely an area I’ll be devoting more attention to in my personal life and on this blog.

3. Educate Yourself

To be happy we need continuous growth. The best way to grow is life long education. This doesn’t mean you need to pursue a doctorate or spend 2 hours reading every day. Self education can be anything that takes you out of your comfort zone. The important part is keeping an open mind and searching for fresh ideas and perspectives.

Education builds over time. It might feel like the bits of wisdom you acquire don’t mean much, but over the years they add up to form a wiser, kinder, more interesting person.

4. Develop Lasting Personal Relationships

Suppose you had everything you wanted. Would you be happy without anyone to share it with? The personal relationships we develop with friends and family members are the greatest source of happiness in our lives. Don’t forget about them.

Taking the time to cultivate and enjoy personal relationships is essential to longterm happiness. Without the people you care about you’ll probably be miserable, no matter how successful you become.

5. Work Towards a Dream You’re Passionate About

Even if your life isn’t perfect, you can always build towards a goal you’re passionate about. If you aren’t building towards something, you’re probably stagnating. When this happens to me I start to feel like a victim trapped by my own life. The best way to reverse this is working towards a goal.

We can’t control everything about our lives, but working towards a goal gives us something positive to focus on and lays the foundation for future success. No matter what your passion is, get out there and start doing something.

6. Stay in Shape

You only get one body. Once it’s been ruined there isn’t much you can do about it. Exercise to keep the rust off. Avoid excessive consumption of damaging substances and unhealthy foods. It may feel like terrible self denial at the time but enjoying good health in your later years is worth the sacrifice.

How to Choose the Right Partner in Life

How to Choose the Right Partner in Life

First of all, find someone that you're attracted to. Obviously, you can't find the right partner for you if you're not even attracted to them. When we say 'attracted', make sure that you don't just like them because of their looks. Beauty is only skin-deep, remember. Even if you find somebody that's totally beautiful/handsome, their personality might need some work. Wouldn't you rather be with someone that is pretty good-looking, and who's personality is great? If you love someone JUST for their looks, it's not real love, and they're not the right partner for you.

Now, find interests between you and your potential partner. That way, you can enjoy doing things and talking about them together without getting bored. Often times, having too many different interests requires you or your partner to sacrifice one’s desires for the happiness of the other. Eventually, it may lead to ego problems and misunderstandings, so as much as possible, choose a potential partner who shares a lot of common interests with you. Remember that they don't have to have ALL the same interests as you, because that would get boring. Sometimes, being with someone with a few different interests makes life more exciting because you get to experience some of his/her interests.

Consider you and your partner’s intellect. If you are an over-achiever with too many honors and your partner is very laid-back and would prefer to just sit and watch TV all day, that could impose a threat to your relationship. It is very important that you see eye to eye in terms of how you both are able to think and process things. It sounds shallow at first, but just imagine yourself talking to a person who frustrates you because he/she cannot understand what you are saying or doing. You don't need to both be geniuses, but you need to have around the same intellect level.

When choosing a future partner, it's okay to have standards! You almost want to treat it like hiring someone for a job. Does he/she fit the description on which your ideal partner should be? Remember, don't just choose whoever. This is your potential life partner! You wouldn't just pick someone off the street to hire for a job, so why pick a random person as your partner?

Make sure that you both respect each other. You can't spend your life with someone who has no respect for you, your personality, and your goals/dreams. You and your partner should always respect each other.

Is your potential partner trustworthy? Can you count on your partner to keep your secrets? Can you bring your partner out to dinner and not have to worry about him/her checking out that hot girl/guy over at the next table? Could you leave for a weekend and know that your partner wouldn't sleep with someone else? Think about these questions.

Spend time together. How are you supposed to know if he/she is the right partner for you if you don't spend time together? Go on dates with your partner and go out to different places with him/her. Get to know him/her well. After all, if you two decide to spend the rest of your life together, you can't really do that if you two can't stand to spend a day together!

Top 15 Tips for Building Muscle

Top 15 Tips for Building Muscle

1. Genetics are important. If you ever could, you would choose your parents well. The ability to pack on muscle is at least partly determined by genetics. However, starting from a low base you can always improve your body shape. Being male and young also favors muscle building.

2. Train with high volume and medium intensity. "Volume" is the quantity of sets and repetitions you do and "intensity" is how much weight you choose. For each weight training exercise set, perform 10 to 15 lifts with less than a minute break between sets. Lactic acid causes that burning sensation in muscles when you exercise intensely and this appears to stimulate muscle growth, perhaps from an increase in growth hormone production.

3. Push each exercise set to near “failure.” Failure means you could not do one more repetition in a set because of fatigue. For a 3-set exercise, you could start off with a heavy weight for 15 repetitions in the first set and then reduce each set by 2 so that your last set is 11 lifts. Even as you tire, you should attempt a maximum effort for each set.

4. Utilize the "big three" weight training exercises. These are the squat, the deadlift and the bench press. They build strength, condition and bulk and should always be included in one form or another.

5. Train three times each week. At least 3 sessions per week should provide sufficient volume of exercise to create a muscle-building stimulus. Experienced trainers may attempt more sessions and novices could start with 2 sessions.

6. Don’t try to train for a marathon and build big muscles at the same time. You can mix cardio and weights -- it makes a great fitness combo -- but at the extremes, the training physiology and biochemistry are contradictory and you will not maximize your results unless you concentrate on one or the other.

7. Eat sufficient for muscle growth. You will struggle to build muscle in a weight-loss mode when you are cutting calories and exercising at the same time. If you must drop your food intake, at least keep your protein intake the same and reduce fat and refined carbohydrates.

8. Cycle food intake during weight loss. If you want to maintain or increase muscle in a weight loss phase, try eating well on the days you exercise -- especially in the hour before and after exercise -- and cutting back strongly on intake for the days you do not exercise. Don't make it an excuse to overeat on exercise days.

9. Measure body fat. Don't be discouraged if your weight does not change much when you train with weights. You may be losing fat and increasing muscle. This is not easy to do at the same time, yet net weight loss or gain is not a good measure of muscle or fat movement.

10. Eat sufficient protein. Even if you train hard, the maximum amount of protein you need for muscle building is about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. A little more or less will not make much difference.

11. Eat sufficient carbohydrate. If you exercise hard and long with cardio, circuits or bodybuilding programs, you need sufficient carbohydrate to fuel your effort and to maintain body stores of glucose. Failure to do this will result in muscle being broken down for protein and then carbohydrate. Low-carb diets are not suitable for this type of training. Depending on the intensity and volume of your training, you may need 2 to 3.5 grams of carbohydrate per pound of body weight per day.

12. Eat some protein before and after you weight train. About 10 to 20 grams of protein consumed about 30 to 60 minutes before you train may help induce a muscle-building effect following training. This is about 1 to 2 glasses of milk or equivalent supplement drink such as whey or soy protein.

13. Try a creatine supplement. Although results can be variable for individuals, creatine supplements at about 5 grams per day may enhance your ability to train harder and longer, which may lead to increased muscle growth. Also, a creatine supplement with protein and carbohydrate may have a direct muscle building effect according to recent research. However, for long-term viability and cost, the fewer supplements you use the better. I don't recommend creatine or similar supplements for high school athletes.

14. Get plenty of sleep and rest. Muscle building, recovery and repair occur at rest and during sleep. Ensure you get sufficient recovery. Failure to do so may delay your muscle building efforts and possibly lead to illness and injury.

15. Set reasonable goals, monitor your progress and be patient. The best bodies are the result of hundreds of hours of effort. Start slowly, don’t be discouraged yet don’t expect miracles if the muscle gods are not with you for your body type. The fitness and health you attain will be assets that will stay with you for as long as you keep training.

Six pack abs without gym

Six pack abs without gym

Phew! Still huffing and puffing away in a gym to get six pack abs like your favourite actors Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan? Experts say you can now get illusionary abs – with artistic cosmetic surgery.

Introduced in the country about three years ago, Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance (VASER) is a revolution of sorts as it’s not only used for body contouring but also helps in getting illusionary abs.

Rajesh Khurana, president of Timpac Healthcare, says the illusion can be created by an artistic cosmetic surgeon.

“In this, the hands and designing aspect is very important. First, the fat is removed from the body in longitudinal lines by creating humps in such a way that it creates an illusion,” Khurana told to media.

Timpac Healthcare is known for offering clinical obesity management, cosmetology, medical aesthetics, wellness, medi-spas and anti-aging treatments.

“This is done by etching the skin and removing superficial fat by segregating it from surrounding tissue through liposuction,” said senior plastic surgeon Ajay Kashyap.

“VASER uses third generation internal ultrasound technology that artfully, selectively and permanently contours the body into a more proportioned, smoother shape without compromising on comfort and safety.”

The procedure can’t be performed by every plastic surgeon because it requires special training to master the art.

VASER, if explained in a more technical way, is an ultrasound-assisted liposuction system where fatty tissues are extracted from the body by using sound waves and they emulsify targeted fat cells.

The sound energy gets transmitted through small probes. These sound waves enter the holes and vibrate rapidly to produce ultrasound energy. This energy that penetrates inside the body breaks the cellular membrane and discharges the lipid content.

In India, there are only 10 machines available for the procedure because both the equipment and the process, which is still evolving, are expensive, says Khurana.

“Not many Indians opt for this procedure as it is very expensive and not every surgeon can perform it. A lot many people are not aware of this technology and a lot many can’t afford it,” he said.

In fact, when Shah Rukh made headlines for his six pack abs for “Om Shanti Om”, his fans worshipped his perfection while fitness experts wondered.

Khurana is not sure, but he believes the superstar might have taken the help of technology for a quick-fix.

Noida-based fitness expert Aashu agrees. “It takes discipline, perfection and a lot of hard work to get six pack abs. You don’t have to sacrifice food, but a lot many things to maintain them. A person can’t achieve it in a few months, it takes time and patience,” he said.

The cost for this procedure can be anywhere between Rs.100,000 and Rs.200,000 and recovery takes about a week.

Anup Dhir, senior cosmetic surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, said there is less blood loss and quick recovery, but “the disadvantage is if the cuts are not done in the right manner, the entire idea will flop”.

Also, Kashyap says, one needs to work out to maintain those abs. A cardio routine for half an hour is essential. Brisk walking for 20 minutes helps and there should be some diet control as well in the initial weeks.

There are not too many takers for this right now. “It is around one to two enquiries per month, but operations take place once in three months because it’s expensive,” said Dhir.

Tips for A Tighter Stomach

Tips for A Tighter Stomach

Avoid materials that are too clingy; instead, opt for fabrics that are thicker and will help hide a tummy.

Tighten your stomach muscles throughout the day while you are standing in lines, driving your car or even watching television. Pull your stomach muscles in. Hold for a few seconds. Release and repeat several times. This will build your core stomach muscles.

Perform 50 regular crunches followed by 50 side-to-side reaching crunches each day.

Do cowboy crunches daily. Begin cowboy crunches lying supine with your knees up toward the ceiling, feet flat on the floor, hands behind your head and elbows facing the sides. Lift your feet off the floor and press your knees out to the sides. Hold this position, lift your head and shoulders off the floor and crunch your elbows and knees in to meet in the center. Release back; repeat this crunch 20 to 25 times.

Another piece of advice that you can use for the six pack diet you plan on implementing is regarding fiber. It helps you feel fuller and it does that for a longer period of time which allows you to say no to that second helping at your table.

Don’t wear jeans that are low-rise. As an alternative, choose mid-to-high waisted jeans. Make sure you go with thicker and darker denim; it will give the illusion of a smaller tummy.

Add three 8 ounce glasses of water to your daily diet. Try to consume the water at each meal. Water helps the body stay hydrated and will in the long run help to tighten stomach skin.

Once that fat has been burned off with four or five weeks worth of diet and cardio, you’re ready to tone up that tummy. That means, stability ball exercises, sit-ups, crunches, and more. Under the search words “core-conditioning” you can find about a thousand suggested exercises for your abs online.

10 brain damaging habits

10 brain damaging habits

According to world health organization following habits damage brain severely:

1. No Breakfast :- It lowers blood sugar level. which leads to insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2. Overreacting – Brain arteries hardens, leading to a decrease in mental power.

3. Smoking :- It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption :- Too much sugar interrupts the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition also interferes with brain development.

5. Air Pollution :- Brain is the largest OXYGEN consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, Lower Oxygen - decrease in efficiency.

6. Sleep Deprivation :- Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.

7. Head covered while sleeping :- Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

8. Working your brain during illness :– Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain.

9. Lack of Positive Thinking :– Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely :– Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

Top Home Remedies for yellow Teeth:

1. Baking soda is one of the best ingredients that you can use to get rid of your yellow teeth. You can make a whitening mouthwash with baking soda by mixing two tablespoon of baking soda with one cup of cold water.

2. Strawberries contain good amount of vitamin C, which help in making your teeth whiter. Take a few strawberries and grind them to make a paste. Now use this paste to rub your teeth gently. If done twice daily for a few weeks, the yellow tinge on your teeth will vanish.

3. The bleaching property present in lemon can also be used to get rid of yellow teeth. In fact, gargling with lemon juice and scrubbing teeth with lemon peel is also one of the best ways to make your teeth white.

4. Apple is a kind of crunchy fruit that can scrub your teeth like a toothbrush and make your teeth look whiter than before.

5. Salt is one of the fundamental dental cleansing agents used since ages as it helps to replenish the lost mineral content of the teeth and help them to regain their whiteness. You can use common salt regularly each morning as a toothpowder instead of toothpaste.

6. You can also clean your teeth with fresh orange peel on regular basis in order to reduce the yellow tinge accumulated on your teeth.

7. Banana peel:1. Brush your teeth as usual with a natural toothpaste or you can use the banana peel first and then brush. Use a ripe banana as it has the most potassium content in it. Peel from the bottom end as this is how monkeys peel their bananas and it will keep you from having all those loose threads.

Take a piece of the inside of the banana peel and gently rub around on your teeth for about 2 minutes. The amazing minerals in the peel like potassium, magnesium and manganese absorb into your teeth and whiten them.

Repeat the same procedure at night or before bedtime, to whiten teeth. Leaving the banana peel on longer is optional if you have stains that need to come off.

Do the banana peel routine twice daily to see teeth whiten.

Want to lose weight? Eat negative calorie foods

Want to lose weight? Eat negative calorie foods

Some foods require more energy to be digested when compared to what they provide; such foods are called negative calorie foods. So fill your tummy with some negative calorie foods to prevent overeating.
Negative calorie foods are foods that burn more calories in the process of chewing and digestion when compared to the number of calories it provides the body. Eating such foods creates a calorie-deficit in the system, which can aid weight loss. The term ‘negative calories’, however, can be misleading as it might suggest that such foods have no calories at all, which is not true.

How do negative calorie foods work?

First of all, it is important to understand that all foods we eat burn calories. About 10-15% of calories from the foods we eat are used in the process of digestion. The body requires energy to breakdown and absorb proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and other nutrients present in our food, and it derives this energy from the food we eat.

There are certain foods that require lots of calories (energy) to break down and get absorbed. Some of these foods contain very few calories and, therefore, force the body to call upon its energy sources in the form of stored fat and glucose to finish processing the food. Such foods are called zero or negative calorie foods.

But then, eating a bowl of cucumber alone will not help in weight loss. You have to eat them instead of potato chips and brownies. In other words, you can’t eat a chocolate muffin and then try to burn off the calories by chasing it with a bowl of cucumber. The only way to make this work is to eat that bowl of cucumber first, leaving very little or no space for that sinful muffin.

Garlic: Garlic has long been used in cooking, for both its full-bodied flavor and its healthy properties. Garlic has strong anti-bacterial effects, helps reduce LDL (bad cholesterol) and unhealthy fat levels in the body. Now there’s a good reason why the ubiquitous ginger-garlic paste is found in dishes across every region in India.

Curry leaves: Curry leaves help reduce LDL levels in the body and are a great way to detox. They also help reduce fat deposits in the body, a great aid to any weight-loss program. So add a few curry leaves into your curry or dal for a dose of great flavor and good health.

Cabbage: Cabbage is a great antioxidant, and makes a great accompaniment to heavy meat dishes. It also slows down the conversion of carbs and sugar into fat, so makes for a great aid to your weight loss plan. Eat it raw or cooked, but make sure it’s a part of your meal.

Chillies: Chillies are another great ingredient to ramp up your metabolic rate and burn that excess fat. The component capsaicin generates heat and boosts metabolism, helping burn calories for upto 20 minutes after your meal.

Buttermilk: Buttermilk is a drink full of good health, and easy to make at home. It provides the body with essential nutrients and is very low on fat and calorie content. Chop up from fresh coriander and green chillies to it, add a little salt and pepper, and you have a refreshing, healthy homemade drink.

Honey: A spoonful of honey with warm water is a great way to start your mornings. Honey helps burn fat and is a widely used home-remedy for obesity.

Gas & Bloating

Gas & Bloating

Let’s be straightforward. This is a page about gas, so, that’s what it’s going to sound like it’s about. No dancing around the subject matter, no putting things tentatively, no shame, no giggling…ok a little giggling is fine. Call it whatever, gas, toots, breaking wind, farting, flatulence, air attack, the nether belch-we’re all referring to the same uncomfortable situation that crops up at the worst time-during a test in a silent room, or in a crowded elevator. Usually harmless, intestinal gas can be uncomfortable in more ways than one, and is a symptom rather than an illness itself. Because there are so many possible causes there are many ways to treat it, and you can usually find relief with simple natural remedies.

gas
1. Drink some peppermint tea
Peppermint is great for soothing churning stomachs and easing gas pains. Its essential oil contains menthol, which has an antispasmodic effect of the smooth muscle of the digestive track. It also soothes nerves, and therefore can soothe stomachs that really feel the effect of nervousness and stress. Drink a cup after dinner to help keep things moving slowly.
You will need…
-1 bag of herbal peppermint tea
-1 cup or so of freshly boiled water
Directions
Steeping tea seems like something that’s simple enough, but there’s a proper way to go about it. We often times let the tea bag sit in the water for several minutes, then pull the bag and drink the liquid. This doesn’t allow all the goodness of the tea to infuse thoroughly, and we’re shorting ourselves a good chunk of the benefits. After you boil your water, pour it over the tea bag in a mug, and then cover the mug (a plate works fine.) Let it sit for a full 10-15 minutes. Remove the cover and take out the tea bag, squeezing it to get out every last bit of the healing mixture. If it’s too hot to grab, press it against the side of the mug with a spoon. Sip, relax, and enjoy.

2. Let ‘em loose
My first day in 9th grade I was terribly bloated for some reason. The whole day I held it all in, despite my stomach bubbling angrily. When I got off the bus at the end of the day to walk home I am pretty sure I made it back in half my usual time, powered by a self-made jet pack. The moral of the story: if you have gas, try not to hold it in. This isn’t always possible of course, but if you could nab a moment to yourself or run to the bathroom you’ll do yourself a favor. The air has to come out some way, and it’s only going to build up and get worse if you hold it in.

3. Ginger is a tummy tamer
Whether you’re nauseas, struggling with the stomach flu, or suffering from indigestion, chances are you’ve been given ginger in some form to help calm your upset tummy. It is capable of performing its wonders because of several different chemical components it possesses. Two chemicals-gingerols and shgaols- relax the intestinal track and ease any inflammation, while the root in its entirety act as a carminative-that is it prevents the formation of excess gas, or helps expel it.
You will need…
- 1 fresh gingerroot
-A grater (optional)
-1 cup of boiling water, if making tea
-Lemon and honey (optional)
Directions
There are several ways to make gingerroot tea but for gas, we liked this one. Get a medium sized piece of raw gingerroot that looks nice and fresh. Scrub it clean, much like a potato, under warm water. Slice 4-6 thin quarter sized pieces and place them in a large mug. Add a touch of honey or lemon if you like, and then pour very hot water over the slices. Don’t let it boil-turn off the kettle just before or immediately afterwards. Cover and steep for 10 minutes before enjoying. Drink a cup before or after a meal to help with digestion.
Another way to reap the benefits of ginger is to eat a teaspoon of fresh grated ginger before meals, or nibble a root throughout the day.

4. Crunch on caraway
For centuries caraway has been used to give trapped gas in the digestive track a little shove out the back door. In England from the Middle Ages onward, it has been reported to help gas “caused by wind trapped in the body.” Of course air is only part of it but, if you find yourself puffing up from too much trapped gas, munching on a small handful of caraway seeds straight, or caraway crackers if the taste is too strong, might help.
You will need…
-a pinch of caraway seeds OR several caraway crackers
Directions
When you feel bloated and you’re unable to pass gas, eat a pinch of caraway seeds or a few caraway crackers. If you suffer from regular bloating due to gas, try eating a pinch every morning until you feel you no longer need to.

5. Drink chamomile tea
If peppermint doesn’t suit your fancy, or doesn’t seem to work for you, chamomile is a good route to go. In Germany, a place where herbal treatments are used more frequently than in the west, they call chamomile alles zutraut which translates to “capable of anything,” because it is so useful. Antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and just plain relaxing, chamomile can help with gas due to indigestion as well as heartburn, whereas peppermint is better for gas caused solely by indigestion.
You will need…
-1 bag of chamomile tea
-1 cup or so of freshly boiled water
-honey or lemon juice (optional)
Directions
Boil approximately 1 cup of water and pour over tea bag. Cover the mug, and let the tea steep for a full 10-15 minutes. Squeeze the bag to get out all the last bits of goodness, and add a bit of honey and lemon if you like. Avoid milk, which tends to trigger gas.

6. Eat pumpkin
Gas is usually caused by improper food digestion, which is why high fiber foods (like beans) often times create some issues with flatulence. Fiber is hard for us to digest, so it passes through our gut in bulk. When food does not break down in the small intestine, it goes into the large intestine where natural bacteria feasts on it. As a by-product of their munching they produce a variety of gases, which produces a whole range of problems for us. Pumpkin is helpful because it can reduce the amount of gas created. Eat along with any meal to nip your problem in the bud.
You will need…
-Around a cup of pumpkin, baked, steamed, or broiled OR whip up a different pumpkin recipe
Directions
Eat approximately 1 cup of pumpkin with your meal to ward off gas. You can have it baked, steamed, or broiled, or whip up a recipe all your own.

7. Activate yourself
Activated charcoal has helped a number of people with their gas, although no exact reason is known. It is thought that it’s because the activated charcoal is porous (its created like regular charcoal, but oxidized with hot steam or air that makes it develop pores) and these internal spaces are good at trapping chemicals, which is why it is used in the case of drug overdoses. One could apply the same train of thought to excess gas given off by bacteria in our intestines. If you want to see if this could be effective for you, talk to your doctor and read the dosing on the back of the packaging. There is powder, capsule, and tablet form.

8. Chew food thoroughly
Gas is created, in most cases, by food that we’re having a hard time breaking down. If you chew your food thoroughly you’ll digest it faster, and it will pass through your body with ease. That means it’s not sitting your intestines causing more and more gas that builds up and needs to be expelled.

9. Drink warm lemon water
A glass of warm lemon water every morning keeps the doctor away. It may not sound as good as “an apple a day” but it’s still a helpful habit. Lemon is good for you in a number of ways, including lending a hand when it comes to easing your gas pain. The acidity in lemon stimulates the production of HCL (hydrochloric acid) which is what breaks down our food. More HCL = food breaking down more efficiently = less bloating and gas. The water flushes your system and keeps your digesting tract moving along smoothly. This mixture also works as a mighty fine way to detoxify your entire body, because the lemon helps the livers enzymes work more efficiently.
You will need…
-3 fresh lemon wedges OR 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice
-A cup of water
Directions
When you wake up in the morning, before you eat and when you have an empty stomach, warm up one cup of water. It doesn’t need to be hot-just nice and toasty warm. Cut 3 slices of fresh lemon and squeeze the juice into the water. Give it a little stir and drink the whole glass. If you don’t have fresh lemon, substitute it with a tablespoon or so of lemon juice. You can adjust the amount of lemon you add, really, just make sure the water is cloudy.

10. Whip your diet into shape
Many of the foods we eat today, particularly in western culture, just spell trouble. Caffeine laden beverages, sugary sweets, fatty fried foods, and a number of other unsavory edibles mean that your doom is imminent. And by doom I mean having to pass gas in a crowded elevator that’s stopping at every floor. While it is without a doubt best to avoid these unhealthy triggers, healthy foods like beans and broccoli can cause gas too, thanks to their high fiber content. You can try to limit yourself when it comes to healthy culprit foods, but really focus on the unhealthy ones. You’ll feel better overall, and if you’re gassy, at least you know its natural gas…
11. Whip yourself into shape
Diet and exercise go hand-in-hand, and combined make one of the most powerful remedies for a vast amount of ailments that plague us. A little daily dedication is going to take you a long, long, looooong way when it comes to feeling good. It will help your gas too, because gas is often caused by lifestyle and/or diet. If you exercise and move you are keeping your digestive tracts motility trucking along and expelling gas at a rate that won’t blow you away (pun I sent intended.) Most people experience flatulence on average 14 times a day no matter what, and exercise helps maintain that regularity.
12. Eat some anise seed
Anise has anti-spasmodic properties and helps to relax your digestive track, which has a tendency to react to stress in unpleasant ways. The relaxation also helps with cramping. It is also a carminative, which is just a fancy way to say that it is known to expel pent up gas and relieve the bloating that goes with it. Always check with your doctor, but parents with colicky babies have said providing anise seed in water often times brings relief to their children.
Gas is a natural part of life. We’ve developed a culture that shies away from it, makes it terribly embarrassing, and creates way more trouble than it’s worth. as a routine work in our life. Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense..

The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals.. not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed.. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster
than the solid food. It will line the intestine.

About Your Body Temperature

About Your Body Temperature

Body temperature is an important indicator of our health. What is normal body temperature? What part of the body gives the most accurate readings? Find out the answers to these and other questions regarding body temperature.

1.Your body is a great thermo regulator.

Our body has an amazing ability to keep its temperature within safe range to keep you healthy, no matter what conditions you are exposed to outside the body. When you feel hot, you start sweating, which cools you body down. When you feel cold, you start shivering, which is involuntary muscle contractions that generate heat. Goose bumps that appear on skin when you are feeling cold are actually tiny muscles that raise body hairs, which increase their thickness.

2. Normal body temperature

It is commonly accepted that normal human body temperature is 98.6 degrees F or 37 degrees C. However, there is also a number of variations to normal body temperature that depend on many factors, such as the time of the day, outside temperature, age of the person and others. Temperature may vary by 1 degrees F (0.6 degrees C), from 97 degrees F (36.1 degrees C) to 99 degrees F (37.2 degrees C), which is considered within normal range.

3. The body temperature varies throughout the day

Body temperature undergoes minor changes throughout the day. It is the lowest in the morning, between 4 and 6 a.m. And highest in the evening, around 6 to 8 p.m. Temperature also changes during sleep. Usually it starts to drop when we fall asleep, ensuring sound sleep and needed rest.

4. Rectal temperature – most accurate

Body temperature is measured with the help of different types of thermometers in various parts of the body. Temperature taken in your mouth may be influenced by many factors and is usually lower, while rectal and ear measurements are slightly higher than oral temperature readings. Temperature taken in your armpit may me the least accurate since it may not directly indicate core temperature. The most accurate way to measure body temperature is to take temperature rectally.

5. Fever is good for you
Many of us are scared of fever and try to reduce fever with medications. However, fever is not an illness, but the body‘s defense mechanism that fights infections and is basically harmless. Fever slows the growth of pathogenic bacteria and activates white blood cells to fight infection. Fever may range between 100 degrees to 104 degrees F and higher (37.8 degrees – 40 degrees C), but not all of them need to be treated with medications. The general rule of thumb is that fever medicines are necessary when it causes you or your child discomfort or there are other dangerous signs such as trouble breathing or pain.

Honey

Honey

Honey is one of nature's most splendid gifts to mankind. It possesses unique nutritional and medicinal properties
Food Value
The sugars in honey are glucose, fructose and sucrose. Glucose is the simplest of the sugars. It occurs in the blood of live animals, in fruit and vegetable juices. It restores the oxygen that is replaced by lectic and acid when fatigue sets in. Fructose, which is also known as levulose or grape sugar, crystallises more easily than, glucose and builds up tissues.

Sucrose is a combination of glucose and fructose. Dextrine, which is a gummy substance, is found in small amount in honey, but it makes honey so digestible.

Latest research indicates that the pollen in honey contains all 22 amino acids, 28 minerals, 11 enzymes. 14 fatty acids and 11 carbohydrates. Unfortunately much of these nutritive qualities are lost by heating the honey for commercial use.

Natural Benefits and Curative Properties

Honey is one of the finest sources of heat and energy. Energy is generated mainly by the carbohydrate foods and honey is one of the most easily digested form of carbohydrats. It enters directly into the bloodstream because of its dextrine content and this provides almost instantaneous energy. It is a boon to those with weak digestion. All organs in the body respond favourably when honey is eaten. Honey is considered as an all-purpose medicine for all types of deseases.
One spoon of fresh honey, mixed with the juice of half a lemon in a glass of lukewarm water and taken first thing in the morning is an effective remedy for constipation and hyperacidity. Fasting on this honey-lemon juice water is highly beneficial in the treatment of obesity without loss of energy and appetite.

A mixture of honey and alcohol is believed to promote growth of hair.

Heart Diseases

Honey is easily digested and assimilated; it is the best sweet food, as it does not cause flatulence and can prevent it to a certain extent, promoting the activity of the bowels. It can be easily added to the five meals a day & recommended in cases of arteriosclerosis and of weak hearts. As it would be unwise to leave such a hard working organ as the heart without food over the long hours of the night, heart patients should take before going to bed a glass of water with honey and lemon juice in it, and also to take it when awakening at night. Honey is useful in cardiac pain and palpitation of the heart.

Anaemia

Honey is remarkable in building haemoglobin in the body, which is largely due to the iron, copper and manganese contained in it. It is beneficial in the treatment of anaemia as it helps maintain the right balance of haemoglobin and red blood corpuscles.

Pulmonary Diseases

Honey is highly beneficial in the treatment of all diseases of the lungs. It is said if a jug of honey is held under the nose of an asthma patient and he inhales the air that comes into contact with the honey, he starts breathing easier and deeper. The effects last for about an hour or so. This is because honey contains mixture of 'higher' alcohols and ethereal oil and the vapours given off by them are soothing and beneficial to the asthma patients. It usually brings relief whether the air flowing over the honey is inhaled or whether it is eaten or taken either in milk or water. Some authorities recommend one year old honey for respiratory diseases.

Skin Diseases

Honey applied externally, is considered useful in the treatment of wounds and sores. Honey soothes pain, acts as an antiseptic, hastens healing and is especially effective in curing burns and carbuncles.

Irritating Cough

The use of honey is highly beneficial in the treatment of irritating cough. As a demulcent or soothing agent, it produces a soothing effect on the inflammed mucus membrane of the upper respiratory tract and retrieves irritating cough and symptoms like difficulty in swallowing. For the same reason, it is used in the manufacture of various cough mixtures. Honey gargles are also useful in irritant cough.

Insomnia

Honey is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia. It has hypnotic action in bringing sound sleep. It should be taken with water, before going to bed, in doses of two teaspoonfuls in a big cupful of water. Babies generally fall asleep after taking honey.

Oral Diseases

Honey is valuable in keeping the mouth healthy. Applies daily over the teeth and gums, it cleans and gives sparkle to the teeth. It prevents deposit of tarter at the base of the teeth and prevents decay and early falling of the teeth. Being a mild antiseptic, it prevents the growth of harmful micro-organisms. It also keeps the gums in the healthy state, increasing their vascularity. In case of ulcers in the oral cavity, honey helps in their early healing and prevents further sepsis and pyogenic infection related bad odour and pus formation. Gargling with honey water is very useful in gingivitis due to inflammation of the gums.

Eye Diseases

Honey is an excellent remedy for various eye ailments. Applied daily in the eyes, it improves the eye-sight. It is very useful in the treatment of itching of the eyes, trachoma, conjunctivitis and other similar diseases. Its regular internal as well as external application will prevent glaucoma in the initial stage of the disease.

Honey is valuable in the prevention of cataract formation. Two grams of onion juice and honey each, mixed together, should be kept safe in a clean bottle. It should be applied locally to the eyes with a glass rod. This is a very effective remedy for immature cataract. It resolves the already coagulated protein fibres as well as prevents further coagulation.

Diseases of Stomach

Honey is useful in maintaining the health of the stomach. It tones up the stomach, helps in proper digestion and prevents stomach diseases. It also decreases the over production of hydrochloric acid thereby preventing symptoms like nausea, vomiting and heart burn. When putrified faecal matter and undigested foods are present in the alimentary canal, honey acts as a laxative and emetic and clears the digestive canal of the waste matter.

Old Age

Honey is specially useful in providing energy and heat to the body in old age. It dries up the phlegm and clears the system of mucus to which a person generally falls victim to in old age. One or two teaspoonful of honey in a cupful of boiling water, taken while still warm, is a refreshing and strengthening drink.

Simple Ways to Lose Weight

Simple Ways to Lose Weight

Many people hate the idea of rigid diets - the good news is that if follow the five proven weight loss tips below, you will lose weight easily.
The diet tips require no real willpower and can improve anyone’s diet and chances of healthy weight control.

1. Drink Water
One of the most effective diet tips is to drink plenty of water. In fact, water is possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off.
Water acts as a natural appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration that leads to hunger cravings. Water also provides the additional benefit of flushing out toxins from the body and keeping it hydrated.
Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you don’t drink enough water the liver that works to provide stored fat for energy also takes on the role of helping the kidneys eliminate waste and thus becomes less effective at metabolizing fat.

2. Eat Breakfast
Many people believe one of the best diet tips is skipping breakfast, as it will help them lose weight, this is totally incorrect. Skipping breakfast can make you hungrier later in the day leading to distorted satiety signals (i.e. it's hard to determine when you're full). This can actually result in eating more as a result.
If you don’t have time to eat breakfast or don’t like to, at least have a liquid meal to fuel your body after sleeping and having no nutrition for several hours.

3. Increase Fibre Intake
Eating lots of foods rich in fibre helps keep food moving through your bowels. Just like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel full. In fact, the average person could lose around 10 pounds a year just from doubling their fiber intake.
High fiber foods are generally low in calories and fill you up, so eating more of them means you’re eating fewer calories and leaving less room for calories from other foods. Fiber also cuts calories by attaching itself to some of the other proteins and fats that you eat and eliminates them as well.
The average person consumes about 8g of fiber per day, but many experts recommend 25g. Start your day with a high fiber cereal and keep eating fibre throughout the day.

4. Eat Healthy Fats
Many experts claim that fat causes obesity, raises your cholesterol and causes heart disease, but this is not strictly true. If fat is all that bad, why is it part of our natural diet chain? The reason is fat can be very good for you.
Fat provides the body with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostaglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, blood clotting, and inflammation.
When eating fats you should eat healthy fats. Eating “healthy” fats includes the cold-water fish, mackerel and salmon, nuts, and olive oil. By eating healthy fats over unhealthy ones you will lose weight.

5. Lean Protein
Protein is a great weight control tool because of the immediate satiety factor and because it keeps you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbs by preventing insulin spikes that can lead to a drain in energy and sugar cravings.
Protein also helps maintain muscle mass, which is very important in the fat burning process. At least 20% of calories should be in the form of protein.
